This week we shared the lovely story of 'Smiley Shark' and as we looked at the front cover, Charlie exclaimed "That's a massive smile!". Part way through the story a starfish cartwheeled off across the ocean floor - Charlie told us it was because "She's scared" and when asked why she might be scared, he replied "Cause the shark might eat her!". We then thought about how the shark would feel when he saw her cartwheeling away and Charlie said "Sad . . . cause no one wants to play with him" When we got to the part where the fisherman dropped his net in fright, Woody told us "The fish will fall out of the net" - when asked what they would do, she replied "They'll be safe!". We then thought about what would happen next and she suggested "Play with the shark?". After finishing the book, we reflected back on the story, Woody said "The fish were not going to play with the shark". When asked why they didn't want to play, she told us "Because they thought the shark was going to eat the fish!" We certainly enjoyed this great story - if you get a chance to read it, we're sure that you will love it too!
