We have had a very busy end to the term . . . Using different shapes to print with to create a Christmas Tree! Can you name the shapes? How many sides and corners does each one have? Telling the story of the Nativity . . . We even had an early visit from Father Christmas . . . Our final 'Star of the Week' for the term was Teddy - well done! On behalf of everyone at Nursery we would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas - we know that you may be having to amend your original plans but hope that you still manage to have a safe and happy time with your loved ones, take care and enjoy this special time together.

Today is Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day . . . We have been supporting the charity by wearing a festive jumper - you can donate via
our JustGiving link - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cjd200024130 Thank you! We have been creating some lovely decorations to hang on the tree . . . You could try and make one of these at home too!
This week we have been sharing our final Julia Donaldson book for the term . . . As we were reading the story I paused to ask the children what had happened to the snowman and Luna told us "He melted!" (Why did he melt?) "Because of the sun", we then talked about why the sun had caused the snow to melt and Luna told us "It's hot". After finishing the story we were sharing our thoughts about it, Luna told us "Dog picked him up and throwed him" (Then what happened?) "He floated in the river and a swan picked him up and put him in his nest and a man picked him up and used him as a mast and Father Christmas took him to his family tree!" Emme said "The Stick Man goed with Santa" (Where did he go?) "To his tree" (Why did they go to the tree?) "Because he was sad" (What made him sad?) "Because he couldn't get back to his tree" (Did Santa need to do anything else first before he took Stick Man home to the family tree?) "Deliver the presents" (Who did they deliver them to?) "The little boy and girl" (Why were they getting some presents?) "Because they were nice!" We were very excited when Stick Man came to visit us! We took him outside and he enjoyed exploring some of the different areas - can you spot where he went? Perhaps you could write a new adventure for Stick Man to go on! The children were very excited when they arrived in Nursery to find that we had put a tree up with lots of lovely decorations! We decided to create our own sparkly trees for the front of our Christmas cards . . . Which colour glitter would you have chosen for your tree?
This week we have been talking about our understanding of 'Christmas' . . . Jack told us: "You get presents and you open them, Father Christmas goes to the other houses" Florence said: "When Santa gets on the sleigh the reindeers get him to fly" "The elves make presents!" Teddy replied: "The elf - I think he's got magic! He flies into the North Pole" "If the children are naughty at Christmas they don't get presents, they get a cold!" After sharing the children's thoughts and ideas about Christmas, we told the story of the Nativity as well as learning some little songs and actions about the sheperds, angels, wise men, the star above the stable and baby Jesus.
We hope you are looking forward to seeing our song during the last week of term! |
