This week we have been outside in the school grounds hunting for different shapes in the environment. Here are just a couple of examples of the shapes that we found: Everyone then had lots of fun creating either a 'house' or a 'person' when we were back in the Nursery, selecting from a variety of shapes available on the table. There were some very elaborate designs! And sometimes they chose to create both a house and a person! Can you name all the shapes that we have used? You could have a go at creating your own shape picture - have fun!

This week we have been sharing the lovely story of 'Monkey Puzzle' written by Julia Donaldson. We had fun identifying the various animals, thinking about the different descriptions of them. We then reflected back on the similarities and differences that we had discussed last week as we created self-portraits for our Gallery along with comparing the heights of some of the children and labelling different body parts . . . Some of the children helped to trace over the words to write our labels We thought about the colour of our eyes and the length of our hair etc. and selected from collage, pastels and paint to create our self-portraits - which would you have chosen?
We would like to extend a very warm welcome to everyone that is joining us this term! As part of their initial induction sessions, the children have been exploring some of the activities available in our outdoor environment . . . We have loved getting to know our new 'Nursery Family' and we hope that the children have enjoyed getting to know us and their new environment too!
