We all enjoyed the story of Fidgety Fish so much last week, we wanted to meet some more of his friends . . . Harriet was very excited when she saw one of the characters from another Ruth Galloway book - "There was Smiley Shark in there!" Jamie-Leigh told us "We saw the crab!" We have been making some lovely jellyfish recently and Anabella enjoyed seeing these in the story - "We met the jellyfish. he was wobbling with Fidgety Fish!" Everyone enjoyed searching to see where Fidgety Fish was hiding on each page - Ollie told us "I saw Fidgety Fish in a bubble!" There were lots of other lovely sea creatures that we met - we would love to hear which was your favourite!

This week we have been busy creating some wonderful art work . . . Oliver B Join us at the School Open Evening on Tuesday to come and view some more! We have been enjoying another story from our new focus author . . . Tiddler the fish was always fidgeting, his mum told him to go out and swim until he was tired, but to watch out for the Big Fish! When we got to the part where Tiddler came to a big dark cave and swam in, Darius excitedly told us "It was not a cave, it was a Big Fish!" Samuel P said he liked it when the Big Fish eat Tiddler! After Tiddler had been trapped inside for a while, the Big Fish's tummy began to feel very funny indeed - can you guess what happened next? Darius laughed as he told us "I like when the Big Fish burped because the fish was turning in the Big Fish's tummy!" We won't spoil the ending - but we are sure you will enjoy it! We were very relieved this week when the weather improved and we were able to go ahead with our garden themed sporting events! If you were able to join us, we hope that you enjoyed watching - we were very proud of all the
children that took part. Having really enjoyed the story of 'Smiley Shark' we thought about what we might see if we could go down to the bottom of the sea in a submarine! What else do you think you might see?

We have been talking about some of the things that make our dad / grandad
so special and have drawn a picture of them on the front of their card and decorated a plant pot to give them for their special day. Click below to take a look . . . We hope you enjoy your special day together. Following on from our focus on 'Empathability' we read the story of 'Smiley Shark' - although he is the friendliest, smiliest fish in the ocean, the other fish won't let him join in their games . . . Whenever Smiley Shark smiled at the other fish they swam away - Maddie told us
"They were scared cause they didn't know him and they didn't know he was a good shark" The Angelfish raced away as fast as she could swim when Smiley Shark asked her to play with him - Noah told us this was "Because the shark was going to eat him!" As we paused and talked about which part of the story the children had enjoyed so far, Ollie told us "When Pufferfish pricked Smiley Shark on the nose cause it was funny!" Theo said "The fish hurt him - cause he's a bit spiky!" When the other fish got caught in a trap, Smiley Shark wanted to know what he could do to help - Noel suggested he could "Bite the net apart - cause his teeth are a bit sharp, he has to make a hole - they have to swim away before another net gets them" After we had finished the story, George told us "I liked when the Smiley Shark jumped out of the water and smiled at the fisherman and he said 'I'm off!' - that was my best bit!" The children loved this story, and we are going to have Ruth Galloway as our focus author for the remainder of the term! As part of our 'Empathability' focus, we have been thinking about what makes a good friend . . . * Sharing toys (Jamie-Leigh) * Helping other people (Reuben) * Being kind (Noel) * Playing with other people (Maddie) * Reading somebody a story (George) * Taking turns (Josh) We drew a picture and wrote about our special friend . . . Sometimes friends can fall out with each other -
we talked about this too! Hopefully now we will all be able to: Play with other children nicely Know how to be friendly Be tolerant of other people's beliefs and opinions Say 'sorry' if we have been unkind We were delighted to find that our bean had started growing when we came back after half-term, it had obviously enjoyed the right amount of rain and sun. As part of our number activities, we sequenced some 'beanstalks' and sang a little rhyme about a hungry snail that came and eat the leaves! Can you work out which numbers are covered?
After our rhyme we went outside to hunt for some more 'leaves' and worked together to identify and sequence the numerals on them. Have you got a favourite number rhyme? Post us a comment and let us know!
This half term we are having a focus on
Empathability! We hope that the following will help to provide you with more of an insight . . . |
