This term, to link in with our initial activities based around dinosaurs, we have been sharing lots of different stories written by Ian Whybrow - he has been our chosen author for the term, and we have enjoyed following the adventures of Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs! As we have read each book we have shared our thoughts and ideas, and added some of them to our display - with different events being represented. Here are just a few examples of quotes from the children . . . Reggie - "I liked the dinosaurs because they went Raahh!" (Harry and the Dinosaurs go to School) Thomas - "I liked the special box with the special things in . . . and I like Triceratops!" (Harry and the Dinosaurs First Sleepover) Milo - "He was going to a Safari Park. He saw some animals - a monkey!" (Harry and the Dinosaurs Go Wild) Bella - "They went to a museum. They saw a big dinosaur. It was a skeleton" (Harry and the Dinosaurs at the Museum) Madi - "There was a big cake with candles on for the dinosaurs" (Harry and the Dinosaurs have a Happy Birthday) Alys - "I liked them chasing around the field playing football" (Harry and the Dinosaurs United) Sophia - "They didn't want to go to the dentist because they were a bit scared. He just checked their teeth!" (Harry and the Dinosaurs say "Raahh!") Do you have a favourite story from the collection? Post us a comment and let us know!

There was a lot of excitement today as the children came to school dressed up! There were lots of 'spots', pyjamas and fancy dress.
Thank you so much for your kind donations - we raised £24.50 to add to the school total which will be sent off to Pudsey - well done everyone. This week we have been sharing our knowledge of Autumn! Noah told us "Well . . . all the leaves turn brown and they fall off the trees" He then went on to say "We can kick the leaves with our shoes and wellies!" After we had put our coats and wellies on, we went out onto the school field to explore! When we came back inside, some of the children made use of the leaves we had collected . . . "Look . . . leaves! I'm gluing it here so it can stay on my picture" (Where did the leaves come from?) "From the trees, we picked them up!" Have you noticed some signs of Autumn when you have been out and about?
We'd love to hear about them. Post us a comment and let us know! This week we have been finding out about the reasons why some of us wear a poppy. The children then created their own, which we put together to form a poppy wreath . . . At the going down of the sun,
and in the morning We will remember them. This week everyone has been very excited about Bonfire Night! After talking about how important it is to stay safe, and watching a video about this, we had a number rhyme about 'five little rockets'. The children enjoyed counting down on their fingers to show how many fireworks would be left after each one took a turn at flying up into the sky! During a child initiated session, some of the children chose to create a wax resist
firework picture, or make a rocket - which would you have chosen to do? If you are planning on having a bonfire or some fireworks, we hope that you enjoy your celebrations but please remember to stay safe! |
