The children have been having fun using their 'listening ears' to hear and identify the sounds of different instruments! Each child had their own instrument and everyone listened carefully to the sound of a 'hidden' instrument - if they thought it matched their own, they stood up and played alongside. We then discussed what sort of sound they made - soft, loud, tinkly or gentle etc. After everyone had had a turn, we created our own 'Nursery Marching Band' and all played our instruments together!

We have been thinking about the different parts of our body and singing the song 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes'. Some of the children then helped to write the labels to add to our display . . . We also thought about some of the things that we can do with different parts of our body such as throwing, catching, jumping and running etc. How many different things can you think of? This week we have been having lots more fun as we continue to get to know each other and our new environment . . . Taking in the sights on a drive around the playground Exploring the technique of collage in the creative area Enjoying the sunshine playing outside with the hoops and tunnels on the field There have been lots of lovely smiles and laughter throughout
the week - well done everyone! As we embark on the start of a new academic year we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of our new children and their parents. Below are just a few examples of some of the activities that we have been engaging in during our induction sessions this week . . . Using pastels to draw self-portraits Choosing favourite colours to create handprints Having fun together in the Castle play area It has been lovely getting to know our new 'Nursery Family', we hope that all the children enjoyed their first day with us and are now looking forward to returning again next week!
