As the term now draws to an end, we would like to thank you all for your continued support during what has, at times, been an unusual and challenging year! Puppet John has put on his sun screen, found his sun hat and shades, and is now looking forward to a socially distanced holiday! We would like to wish you all a safe and happy summer, and look forward
to seeing you again in September. Take care everyone!

This week we have been looking at 'The Snail' by Henri Matisse . . . The children then created their own interpretation Later in the day, we read an information book all about snails before drawing some of our own . . . When describing a snail, Lilly told us "It has a shell, it's curly". She then went on
to say "It makes slime come up on the floor and the fence". What else could you say about a snail? How would you describe the other mini beasts that you might find in your garden? Post us a comment and let us know! We have been playing a number game and thinking about how many ways we could arrange the same amount of spots on the ladybird! Can you see how we have arranged our six spots in two different ways?
How else could we have arranged them? What about if we had rolled a four on our dice? How many different ways could we have found to arrange each number on the dice? You could play this game at home too! We have been sharing the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle. It was lots of fun when we tried to throw the balls into our own hungry caterpillar's mouth to feed him! After talking about the symmetrical patterns on the wings of the butterfly, we used the shapes to create some of our own . . . How many circles can you see? What about rectangles? Perhaps you could design your own symmetrical pattern - which shapes would you use? We also created some butterfly prints - we hope you like them!
This week we have have been hunting for number mini beasts in the garden area! Which ones did we find?
Can you work out which numbers are missing? |
