This week we have been having lots of fun playing the 'Which shape is it?' game! Afterwards the children selected from a range of 'shape toy' pictures to either match the shapes on top, or recreate them by copying the picture alongside . . . Several of the children were able to name the shapes that they had used, and some were able to describe them too! Anabella told us "A triangle's got one, two, three corners and one, two, three sides" She also said "Square's got one, two, three, four - four sides and one, two, three, four - four corners!" Reuben picked up a rectangle - "It's got two big sides and two short sides . . . or we can say two long sides!" Looking at a hexagon he said "It's got six sides and six corners" Reuben then picked up a circle - "It's got one edge that goes all the way round!" Perhaps you could have a go at creating some 'shape toys' - which shapes would you use?
