On Wednesday, First News organised a 'Ukraine Day' in aid of the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) and the children came to school dressed in blue and yellow to help raise funds to support those in Ukraine. They have also been decorating orange hearts in readiness for a 'Show Your Heart' campaign (#showyourheart) being organised by Together with Refugees (#togetherwithrefugees) and Shropshire Supports Refugees (#shropshiresupportsrefugees) for a national awareness day to enable people across the UK to convey their passion & solidarity with the situation of refugees displaced from their home by conflict and wars around the world. On Thursday it was St Patrick's Day and as well as finding out about the patron saint of Ireland and some of the traditions associated with the celebrations, the children worked together to decorate our own green shamrock to add to our Nursery Celebrations board! This week we have also been finding out about the Hindu festival of Holi which began on Friday and celebrates the arrival of spring flowers and when the main crops are almost ready for the spring harvest. We watched a video of some children that were taking part in some Bollywood style dancing as part of their celebrations prior to us going out onto the school field and having a go ourselves! Holi is also known as the Festival of Colour and we each had a scarf to dance with around our colourful parachute alongside our beautiful yellow daffodils! We finished the week with the children coming to school dressed either as a superhero or in a funny outfit to make someone laugh in support of this year's Comic Relief Day! Thank you so much for all your generous donations this week, your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Wow what a busy week indeed. Glad to know we are all safe with so many superheros nearby.
