The children were very excited today when we had a special visitor arrive at School . . . It was Santa - and he had some presents for the Nursery! Everyone is looking forward to playing with our lovely new toys - we know we are going to have lots of fun! As we get closer to Christmas, we have been enjoying a lovely Julia Donaldson book which many of you will recognise - 'Stick Man'! For those of you not familiar with the story, Stick Man lives in the family tree with his Stick Lady Love and their stick children three . . . One day after waking early, Stick Man goes for a jog, and his many adventures begin!
Zachary told us "The dog's going to put him in the dog's mouth!" Later in the story, Stick Man is picked up by a girl who decides that he will make the right kind of Pooh-stick for winning the race! Jazmin thought that this would make him "Sad - because he might be going in the water" Jazmin then added "The crocodile will eat him!" Eventually, after rescuing somebody very special from being stuck in the chimney, Stick Man goes for a ride through the night sky. Charlie J told us afterwards "He went on Santa's sleigh to deliver presents!" The children loved joining in with the repetitive text in this great story. Do you have a favourite part? We have been incredibly proud of everyone in our Early Years Foundation Stage this week as they have been performing in front of a hall full of family and friends.
Our nativity this year was called 'What A Star' and we certainly believe that each and every one of the children taking part were wonderful little stars! Click on the photograph below to take a look at who our fantastic Nursery performers were . . . If you were fortunate enough to attend one of our performances, we would love you to post us a comment and let us know what you thought! Everyone loved sharing the story of 'The Gruffalo' so we knew that 'The Gruffalo's Child' would be very popular too! The children loved the sound effects and when we heard the 'wind blowing' Antonia told us "We have to be careful!" Later in the story when she saw the Gruffalo in his cave, Antonia whispered "He's sleeping, we have to be quiet" and she put her finger on her lips! As she looked at our cuddly Gruffalo's Child, Antonia said "She's so cute, she's adorable! She has a black tail, she has yellow eyes, she's got a white tummy because she's so hungry she needs to eat the food!" When asked about his favourite part of the story, Noah told us "The Gruffalo Child and the snake, they were going in the woods and the Gruffalo's Child went back in the cave. The snake's tail is long!" Charlie W told us "He scared the Gruffalo away - the mouse did - on the tree with the nut!" Arabella added "The baby Gruffalo went in the gruffalo cave again" She also told us that "The big Gruffalo snored and snored!" We all loved this story - have you read it too? We would love to hear about your favourite part. Post us a comment and let us know! This week the children thought about the special gift they would like to have taken if they could have gone to visit baby Jesus in the stable . . . Reuben would like to take a star, he told us "I would like to wrap it up for him!" Anabella thought a teddy would be good, and she drew a lovely picture of what it would look like. Sam decided that a rattle would be great for a new baby! What special gift would you have taken?
