As you know, this wasn't quite the 'Happy New Year' that we had all been hoping for, but we will continue to do all we can to try and keep everyone safe and well as we embark on the term ahead - which this week has brought with it some very frosty mornings! After putting our coats on to keep nice and warm, we went for a walk outside to look at the effect of all the frost . . . "When you stand on the grass it's a bit crunchy - the grass is white!" "When you squish the leaves they crunch - when I squish it it's crunching" Luca told us "I've found an icy stick" and when asked how it felt in his hand, he replied "Bumpy, a bit spiky". He then held up a frosty leaf and said "If you put this leaf in the sun it sparkles!" As we looked at the spider webs Imogen told us they were "Frosted" then as we looked at the field she said "There's footprints! Look at the trees, they're frosty". When we looked at the play tyre she told us it was "Shiny and sparkly"! We sang the rhyme 'Here we go round the mulberry bush' and thought about suggestions for different verses as well as writing labels for the different items of clothing that we might wear to keep us nice and warm. Some of the children also had a go at creating a handprint robin to add to our display!
